The Machu Picchu 2-Day Tour from Cusco offers the opportunity to explore one of Peru’s most important archaeological sites with a more relaxed schedule. This itinerary is ideal for travelers who prefer a shorter journey while still experiencing Machu Picchu in depth.
During the journey, you will travel through diverse Andean landscapes, passing valleys, rivers, and mountain scenery on the way to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will have free time to explore the town or optionally visit the nearby hot springs.
On the second day, you will take the bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the citadel. The visit includes the main sectors of the archaeological site, where you will learn about its historical, architectural, and cultural significance. After the tour and free time for photographs, you will return to Cusco by train and ground transportation.
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer you to the Ollantaytambo train station. From there, you will board the train to Aguas Calientes. The total travel time from Cusco to Aguas Calientes is approximately four hours, including transfers.
Upon arrival at the Aguas Calientes train station, our representative will meet you and accompany you to your hotel.
You will have the afternoon free to explore the town of Aguas Calientes or visit the local hot springs (optional).
Important Tips
This is a relaxed day designed to allow you to rest before your visit to Machu Picchu the following morning. After the journey from Cusco, you may use the afternoon to walk around town, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, and prepare for the guided tour the next day.

Early in the morning, at the scheduled time, your guide will meet you at your hotel in Aguas Calientes and accompany you to the bus station. You will take a 30-minute bus ride along a winding road ascending approximately 400 meters to reach the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, also known as the Lost City of the Incas.
Upon arrival at the citadel, we will begin a guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, visiting the main sectors of Machu Picchu and learning about its historical and architectural significance. After the guided tour, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes.
You will have free time for lunch at one of the local restaurants (lunch not included). Later, according to train schedule availability, we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo and then continue by bus to Cusco, following the same route as the outbound journey.
Upon arrival in Cusco, you will be transferred to your hotel.
