The Ausangate 7 Lakes day trip offers the opportunity to explore the high-altitude landscapes of the Peruvian Andes near Ausangate Mountain. This tour takes you through a scenic route featuring a series of glacial lakes surrounded by snow-capped peaks and traditional Andean communities.
The experience combines moderate hiking with panoramic mountain views, allowing visitors to appreciate the natural environment and cultural setting of the region. It is a suitable option for travelers seeking a full-day excursion from Cusco focused on nature and high-altitude scenery.
Pick-up is scheduled around 4:00 a.m. from your hotel in Cusco. Please be ready on time and bring warm clothing for this high-altitude excursion.
We will travel south of Cusco toward the village of Pacchanta, a journey of approximately three and a half hours. Along the route, you may observe the sunrise over the Andes and enjoy the surrounding landscapes. We will make a stop for breakfast before continuing to Pacchanta.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., we will begin a hike of around three and a half hours to explore the Ausangate 7 Lakes. During the trek, you will visit the glacial lakes that surround Ausangate Mountain and appreciate the high-altitude scenery of the region. After completing the circuit, we will return to the village of Pacchanta for lunch and a rest break. There is an optional opportunity to enjoy the thermal baths of Pacchanta; participation is optional, and those who prefer not to enter the hot springs will have free time to explore the village and its surroundings.
After lunch and free time, we will begin the return journey to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:30 p.m., with drop-off at your hotel.
